There is a little known principle that simply states that 80% of the results in any endeavor comes from 20% of the input, material, and effort.

In other words, by learning only 20% of the Spanish language you can become conversationally fluent 80% of the time.

I’m About To Give You My Entire Method To Learn Spanish Quickly which Includes Resourceful and Accurate Handouts..

And I am NEVER Going to Charge you for this information.

Here’s Why…

Hi, My name is Greg Nemer and I am a missionary to Latin Mexico. I lived in Mexico for over 20 years. My wife and child are both of Spanish origin. I speak Spanish publicly all the time in as my ministry/profession requires it.

For years I have been teaching visitors to speak Spanish by showing them how to use a few simple verbs correctly. Here are the 5 major verbs:

  1. I have- Tengo
  2. I am going- Me voy
  3. I Am – Soy y Estoy
  4. I like- me gusta
  5. I want- quiero

This just seemed like a a quick way to learn since these were the verbs that are used most frequently in both the Spanish and English language. Little did I know that I was using a proven success principle that not only works in language learning but in all other aspects of life including work, time, business, education, skills and lifestyle.

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80-20 rule, Haddad’s Theorem, the law of the vital few and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. Business management thinker Joseph M. Juran suggested the principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed that 80% of income in Italy went to 20% of the population. It is a common rule of thumb in business; e.g., “80% of your sales comes from 20% of your clients.” (source- wikipedia.org)

It easily became evident to me that all that I needed to do was find out the words in Spanish that make up the top 20% of the Vocabulary. Actually It wasn’t hard. There are some great organizations that teach children and minorities, including Hispanics the top 100, 200, 300 and even 1000 Most common words in the English vocabulary. I researched them a little and also found out that by Edward B. Fry & Jacqueline E. Kress had written a book called “The Reading Teacher’s Book of Lists” which is now in it’s 5th edition. They have compiled lists of all sorts of topics ranging from teaching ideas to the phonics. Among those lists are the most common spoken words in any language.

The principles that I am telling you about will work in all languages, not just Spanish.

I am using them to learn Tzotzil, which is the language of an Indian group in Chiapas, Mexico where I am currently working.

Now that I had the list all that was left was to translate them. Well that wasn’t hard at all since the top 10 words in English are:

  1. the
  2. of
  3. and
  4. a
  5. to
  6. in
  7. is
  8. you
  9. that
  10. it

Here’s more good news…

It is generally stated that the English language has about 250,000-300,000 words when obsolete words are counted. However most English dictionaries only contain around 200, 000 words. Let’s compare that with the Spanish language Dictionaries which usually contain only about 100,000 words.

The ratio is 2 to 1, which means that those who wish to learn Spanish only have to learn half as many words as those who want to learn English. Although Spanish is my 2nd language, I can tell you that without a doubt, English is far more difficult to learn than Spanish.

What these facts mean is that to learn 20% of the Complete Spanish language so as to be conversationally fluent 80% of the time you only need to learn 20,000 words. That is far less than the original 100,000 words.

  • WHAT?

You mean 100,000 words seems like a difficult task?

Well, I think you may be right…

Do you think every Hispanic or Spanish person uses all the words in the Spanish dictionary. No, of course they don’t.

In actuality, common Spanish and English speakers alike have a vocabulary of only 1000 words.

Hey, that’s more like it, 20% of 1000 is a lot easier math to deal with. 200 words should be a breeze, especially when they words are mostly “the’s”, “ands”, and “thats”.

I’ve already made up a list of the 100 most common words and I’ve double checked to make sure that it is translated correctly.

It gets even better.

The first 25 words in the list make up almost one third of all printed material in English, and the list of 100 words comprises one half of all written materials in English

I am about to give you a list of the top 100 most common words in the English language fully translated into Spanish.

Most frequency lists have also made a common error. They don’t distinguish the difference between the written and spoken vocabulary. The 100 most common words uses in speech are considerably different and this applies to any language, not just Spanish. I’m also going to give you the top 100 words in any language translated from English to Spanish.
